8th, 15th & 16th July - XC Clinic with Grant Turnbull

As well as the on-going showjumping lessons at Langlands Farm, there has also been a XC clinic over the summer.

This ran over 3 separate days with riders tackling XC type fences in the field at Langlands for the first 2 days and then the final day involved Showjumping and then XC at Edinburgh Equestrian Centre.

The first 2 days instruction really helped the riders prepare for the actual XC fences.  Edinburgh Equestrian centre has a great selection of XC fences ranging from 1ft to 3ft3 which meant everyone was able to put into practise what they had learned during the 2 previous days.  It was a really great experience for everyone and some people achieved more than they would have ever imagined.

18th July 2006 - Horse Massage Demo

This demo was held at Greenwells Farm, Falkirk where some of the members horses there were volunteered as patients. Liz Briscoe started the demo with explaining the benefits of massage for the horse.  We were then split into groups to draw the muscle groups onto our nominated horse - thankfully Liz had provided an example diagram for us to follow.  Each groups horse looked slightly different in the end but Liz thought we had all done really well.

She then went on to show us some massage techniques that we could all do at home.  Only one lucky horse was picked for this demo - the others had all being duped into thinking they were getting massaged when in fact they were just painted lots of strange colours (Liz did say the  chalk would wash off - hope she wasn't joking).  Everyone picked up some tips so hopefully now the riding club horses are all being spoiled with weekly massages.

5th August 2006 - Club Birthday BBQ

As you will see from the front page we had the Glenbrae RC 30th Birthday BBQ on 5th August at Greenwells Farm.  This was a great night that was enjoyed by all.

Members nights

These have been held through out the summer and have been well attended.   These nights have been enjoyable as they allow members to compete in a friendly, stress free environment.  The results from these nights are available on the Results page.  These results contribute to the Annual trophies, which will be presented at the AGM.

More fools with horses

This is a Charity event in aid of Spinal Research and the ILPH.  It is on Saturday 14th October at Ingliston House Stud.  With someone from each of the 7 FEI disciplines competing to see who can be the Scottish Champion All Round Horseperson, it looks as though it should a really fun evening.  For more details see the poster.
